Sweet Bread Rolls

 

Make yeast for 5 lbs. flour. Grate medium size potato (raw) and add 2 pkgs. dry yeast, 1 c. warm water and 2 tbsp. sugar. Set aside to rise.

5 lbs. flour

1 dozen lg. eggs

3 c. sugar

1 lg. can evaporated milk

1 can water

1 c. butter (soft)

1 tbsp. salt

1 tbsp. vanilla

  1. Add salt to flour.

  2. Beat eggs and add sugar.

  3. Add yeast to flour. then add egg and sugar mixture and vanilla.

  4. Then add can milk with water. (May need more or less of milk depending on the flour. Flour should be wet but not soft. Don’t need to use all of liquid.

  5. Pound, make four folds, and continue kneading in this manner for 45 minutes.

  6. Add butter, a little at a time. Add milk if dough is hard. Add more milk if needed.

  7. Let dough rise 8-9 hours. Punch down and shape.

  8. Bake 300 degrees for 1 hour. Rotate in oven.
