Butter Mochi Bars

 

2 Tbsp. margarine, melted

1 cup mochiko (glutinous rice flour)

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. vanilla

1 cup milk

2 Tbsp. kinako (roasted soy bean flour)

Microwave Oven: Put butter in 8 - inch square glass baking dish. Heat 30 seconds or until butter melts. In a mixing bowl combine sugar, mochiko and baking powder. Add milk, vanilla and butter and mix thoroughly. Return to baking dish and cook 4 minutes on High. Turn the dish and microwave additional 3 minutes. Cool and cut into squares. Sprinkle with kinako.

Makes 8 servings.

OR: Preheat oven to 350° F. and pour mochi mixture into a greased 8 - inch square baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with kinako.
