COCONUT ISLAND COOKIES

1/2 cup butter

1 whole egg, beaten well

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 cups flour

1/4 cup white sugar

1/8 tsp. salt

3 squares chocolate melted in 1/4 cup strong coffee

1/2 tsp. soda1/2% cup sour milk

1/2 cup freshly grated coconut

Cream together butter, brown sugar, white sugar and chocolate. Combine and add egg, mixing well. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Add to above mixture alternating with sour milk. Add coconut. Drop by spoonful on baking sheet. Bake 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

TOPPING:

Melt 2 squares chocolate in 1 tbsp. butter. Add 5 tbsp. sour milk. When chocolate has, melted, add powdered sugar until consistency is proper for spreading. Drop spoonful on each warm cookie as it comes from the oven. Pile fresh coconut on top.
