BANANA DOUGHNUTS

1/4 cup butter or margarine

4 tsp. baking powder

1 cup sugar

1 tsp. baking soda

3 eggs well beaten

1 tsp. nutmeg

1 cup mashed bananas

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 cup sour milk

2 tsp. salt

5 cups sifted flour

 

Cream butter. Stir in sugar gradually. Beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs. Combine bananas and milk and add sifted dry ingredients. Mix until smooth. Chill before rolling. Turn out on floured board and knead lightly. Roll out 1/2 inch thick. Cut with floured doughnut cutter. Fry in deep fat at 375 degrees until light brown.
