Paltat Paksiw

Paltat: Catfish in Ilocano

 

1 large paltat

1/2 cup vinegar

1 piece (1 inch) fresh ginger, mashed

1/2 round onion, sliced

2 sections garlic, mashed

Salt and MSG to taste

3-4 large green pepper (optional)

Directions:

  1. Clean and cut up paltat into 3-4 pieces.

  2. in saucepan put ginger, onion, garlic. Add fish on top.

  3. Add vinegar and salt and MSG to taste.

  4. Bring to a boil without stirring and simmer slowly. Add a little water if soup is too sour for preference.

  5. Add green pepper and simmer until cooked.

  6. Serve with hot rice.
