Lumpia

 

1/2 pound ground beef

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 med. onion, minced

5 dried mushrooms, soaked & sliced

1 pkg. (10 oz.) chop suey vegetables

1 pkg. Lumpia wrappers

2 stalks green onion, chopped

1-1/2 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. pepper

2 tsp. soy sauce

1 egg beaten

Oil for deep fat frying

Dipping Sauce:

1/2 cup soy sauce

3 T. vinegar or lemon juice

Dash of monosodium glutamate

Brown ground beef. Stir in garlic, onion and mushroom; saute lightly. Fold in chop suey vegetables and green onions. Add seasonings and cook for about 2 minutes. Drain and cool.

To make lumpia:

Place 2 tablespoons filling on a lumpia wrapper. Fold neatly like an envelope. Moisten with beaten egg to seal corners and top. Deep fry lumpia until golden brown. Serve hot with dipping sauce.

Makes 20 lumpias.
